Note on thread: The wrapped thicker embroidery thread is better. Start small. Draw in your design or free doodle. The warm wax holds the string down. A drafting pencil with lead point not exposed works well to press yarn (thread) in.

Brant has degrees from the University of Montana (BFA) and the University of Wyoming. (MFA). Brant grew up on the western Plains Indian reservations where the Bureau of Indian Affairs and Indian Public Health employed her family. She has lived and worked in Montana, Wyoming, London, U.K. and Missouri. Since 1999 she has taught studio art at Florida International University. She was awarded the South Florida Cultural Consortium for Visual and Media Arts in 2003 and is currently an associate professor at Florida International University.
